Will Vince Vaughn be the next Starbuck? The American actor (Wedding Crashers, Old School, Zoolander) is in negotiations with Dreamworks to star in the remake of Quebec director Ken Scott’s hit film, according to Variety. Scott’s original movie, released last year, starred Patrick Huard as a middle-aged former sperm donor who learns he has fathered 533 children, then sets out to meet them all. The film was a hit on the festival circuit and has been picked up for distribution around the world, leading Dreamworks to acquire rights for an English re-shoot.
Scott will direct the new version himself, which means he won’t be directing the English version of The Grand Seduction – now being helmed by Don McKellar – as recently reported by my colleague Brendan Kelly. The English-language Starbuck is on an accelerated production schedule, with filming slated for later this year.
